The best way to support Suva is to become a member of the Whidbey Island Maritime Heritage Foundation (WIMHF). Your membership will help:

• Operating and maintaining Schooner Suva

• Upgrading onboard electrical, mechanical and safety systems

• Maintaining Coast Guard Certificate of Inspection (COI) as a Small Passenger Vessel

• Education, community outreach, hands-on training

• Preserving our Maritime Heritage

As part of your WIMHF Membership, during Suva’s sailing season (May-October) all WIMHF members are entitled to a free cruise aboard Suva on any regularly scheduled sail.

Being a part of the Suva’s crew is rewarding, easy, and fun!   No experience necessary! We will help teach you everything you need to know to be a safe and effective member of the crew.

Your job aboard Suva is much more than being a lookout, hoisting sails, clearing the foredeck, or tending a sheet.  You are a customer service representative, a narrator, a naturalist, a historian, a conservationist, a teacher, a cruise director!  Our goal is to provide the best experience to our guests making it more than just a boat ride.

Whidbey Island Maritime Heritage Foundation was founded to preserve the maritime heritage of Coupeville, Penn Cove and Whidbey Island through education and public awareness.

 

Whidbey Island Maritime Heritage Foundation proudly owns and operates the schooner Suva, whose carefully trained volunteer docents and crew members proudly operate Suva according to Coast Guard requirements for an inspected small passenger vessel.
